PNE Playland 2026: How Locals Actually Do the Fair

The Pacific National Exhibition runs through Labour Day. Most visitors buy a ride pass, wait 40 minutes for the Coaster, eat an overpriced funnel cake, and leave exhausted. Locals treat Playland as a timed outing: arrive at opening, pick three rides, and leave before the evening surge from Hastings Park events.

Tickets and timing

Gate prices change by daypart. Afternoon weekday entry is usually cheaper than Saturday night. Check the live calendar on FanVancouver before you buy a combo pass. Playland-only often beats the full fairground ticket if you are not there for barns or concerts. Arrive within 20 minutes of opening; the Coaster line is shortest then.

What is worth the wait

Coaster, Hellevator, and the wooden-feel classics still define the park. Skip mid-tier spinning rides at peak if the queue is past 25 minutes. Bring a refillable bottle. If rain starts, the covered barns and exhibit halls are the fair, not a consolation prize.

Getting there without parking

Expo Line to Renfrew plus a short walk beats driving Hastings on a Saturday. For SkyTrain and neighbourhood notes, use the FanVancouver hub. Leave before the last fireworks if you want a seat on the train.
